Probably because I scatter them within my luggage, I don't know.Īnyway, sorry for the long post, I just rambled on, didn't notice. Never gotten any fuss for it from any airport personnel. The most pack of cigarettes I've flown with I think were around 35-40. But how ever be it, I can't exactly bring 60 packs of cigarettes with me, can I? Firstly, because I wouldn't have space in my luggage, and they might question me and probably ask for import taxes, or worst, confiscate them, who knows. Now, however, I am going back there, maybe for good, depending on whether or not I land a job (fingers crossed), considering the pandemic. Either way, after that, I really made it a point to make sure I was bringing enough cigarettes for wherever it is I'm travelling to. So why did I pay 100 AED (this was in 2019)? I just realized that from 2018-2019, that was a huge increase! Was it maybe just a clerical error on the cashier's part? Either that or she saw I was a foreigner and decided to rip me off. Anyway, after that, the first time I had visited them in the UAE was in 2018, I remember buying cigarettes then from a bakala for like 13 Dirhams I think, so that was still normal. Oh, the difference between Riyals & Dirhams is only about 2-3 cents, I think. DUBAI DUTY FREE PRICE LIST PDF FREEAnd I used to buy reams of 10 packs at the duty free every time I left then, because they were at a bundled price of 100 Riyals per 10 packs - and that was cheap for a brand like Dunhill. The last time I visited KSA (before my family moved to the UAE) was in 2016, and by then, the prices were 9-11 Riyals. When I left the middle east to go to university elsewhere, the average price of a pack was 6-7 Riyals (2013). I would have complained to the manager and made sure that it was really priced at 100, but it was a busy day, a lot of people were behind me, and I didn't want to cause hassle for them.īut I grew up in the middle east - in KSA, to be precise - and I know the prices of cigarettes. But now, I'm wondering, was I swindled? Because 100 AED for a pack of 20s is a joke. I just assumed then that maybe the price of tobacco really was just raised that high to perhaps dissuade people from smoking, I don't know, some countries do that. So, I asked for another brand, she offered a pack of Davidoffs & then Vogue (those thin gimmick cigarettes), which were all more expensive than the Marlboro, so I just settled for the Marlboro, I didn't smoke after I had finished that pack. That's the price of a ream of 10 packs! That's what I said, so I asked her to check again, she did, and insisted it was 100 AED. I was so shocked when the lady said it was a hundred Dirhams. The last time I was there, though, I ran out of cigarettes in my last week, so I bought a pack of Marlboro Reds when we were at a supermarket in Ajman. My parents & siblings live in the UAE, so when I visit, I tend to stay for months. What is the actual price of a pack of 20s (in AED)? Like, if you bought from a bakala? I always bring a stock of my own cigarettes whenever I go to another country, I have found that it's just good measure as cigarettes tend to be more expensive in countries such as the UAE. Hello, I know this thread is a couple of months old, but I hope someone can still answer.
